Available each year in limited quantities. The ice grotto which adorns the packaging reflects the special place where this whisky matures.
The Swiss Mountain Single Malt Whisky "Ice Label" Edition 2020 "Aged 10 years" spends four years old in the historic Rugenbräu rock cellar before maturing for six years in the eternal ice on the Jungfraujoch. Cask-strength and unfiltered, this 10-year-old whisky is available in a limited number of 940 bottles.
Colour
Clear and bright golden-yellow amber with a touch of dawn.
Body
Lean but silky and astonishingly smooth.
Nose
Pronounced dried fruit like apricots and raisins, including a hint of dryish sherry – very complex fruity indeed. Good cereal-grain maltiness and rich in vanilla, caramel and honey notes, all even more clearly recognizable while warming at the back of the palate. Beside the discreet smokiness, a warm wood note emerges, making this Ice Label even more exciting.
Palate
A long and sweetish start characterizes this whisky. Some harsh spicy notes combined with vanilla, caramel and honey notes lead to a beautiful interplay. The sherry sweetness by contrast seems to accentuate the usually light peatiness of Ice Label.
