Visitor guidance – Take a look behind the scenes

Have you always wanted to know how aromatic beer is made? Or how spirits are produced? If so, our brewery and distillery tour is just the thing for you. Learn about the stages of production through to the end product. This guided tour lasts approximately 2 hours and ends with a beer tasting.

Corona situation: Guided tours are carried out in compliance with the hygiene and safety requirements prescribed by the government. Our protection concept requires that masks are mandatory. Please bring your own mask or you can by one from us.

Dive straight into the everyday operations of a working brewery! Take a tour of this unique Bernese Oberland brewery and the Rugen Distillery. Our visitor advisors will accompany you through the production facilities and maybe even share a trade secret or two. 


Visiting times by arrangement

Monday to Friday:       9:00 – 18:00 hrs
Saturday:                          9:30 – 16:00 hrs

There are no tours on Sundays and public holidays. Tours are conducted in German. Tours in English and French are available by prior arrangement. 


Group sizes and rates

Flat rate for groups of up to 10 participants: CHF 200.00 (incl. VAT)

Rate for groups of 10 or more participants: CHF 20.00 per person (incl. VAT)

The tour price includes a whisky tasting (dram), beer aperitif (beer, Mountain Twister or mineral water) with pretzel and a souvenir earthenware mug.  


Brewery tour  

Duration: approx. 2 hours

Start at the visitor centre at the World of Enjoyment – brewhouse – cold storage – grist room – Rugen Distillery – water softening – fermentation and conditioning cellar – pressure vessel – filtration – cask filling – power facility – steam boiler – bottle filling – packaging – storage room – whisky cellar –World of Enjoyment – beer aperitif 


What you need to know

  • The tour has several steps to negotiate and is therefore not wheelchair accessible.  
  •  The tour is taken at the participant's own risk. Rugenbräu AG accepts no liability whatsoever.
  •  The floor throughout the entire facility may be slippery. Please wear appropriate footwear.
  • Please don't take the tour in black-soled military boots.
  • Photographs and film recordings are for private use only and permitted to the extent that they do not disturb the tour.  
  • Smoking is strictly forbidden during the entire tour.
  • Touching any equipment – in particular the copper hoods – is strictly forbidden.
  • We reserve the right to exclude intoxicated persons from the tour or to cancel the tour without refunding the amount paid.
