We are proud that on the occasion of the Swiss Spirit Awards three products of the Rugen Distillery were awarded with precious metal.

"The world of distillates and spirits is very large, such awards provide orientation for enjoyment," describes Remo Kobluk, Managing Director of Rugenbräu AG. At the Swiss Spirit Awards 2019, the Swiss Mountain Single Malt Whisky "Master Distiller" Edition 2018 was awarded gold. The Swiss Mountain Single Malt Whisky "Ice Label 2018" and the Fleur de Bière d'Interlaken both received silver medals "When you are awarded gold as Master Distiller for the Master Distiller Edition, that is extraordinary," says a delighted Kurt Althaus, Master Distiller at Rugen Distillery. "Such awards are for us and not a matter of course and the whole team takes them as confirmation and real motivation to continue producing the finest products," Althaus continues.

Swiss SpiritsAward (SSA)
The Swiss Spirits Award (SSA) is a professional competition for Swiss spirits held in Switzerland. The SSA is intended to objectively document the current quality status of Swiss spirits, to present them with awards and to make them accessible to a broad public. It is also intended to promote awareness, image and sales of Swiss spirits. An independent, neutral and professional evaluation of the spirits by an international jury guarantees the serious and professional execution of the competition. This gives the medals awarded by the SSA, the award-winning spirits and their producers a high level of recognition.

The SSA is a competition of the European wine magazine VINUM. The magazine, as the owner of the copyrights and trademarks, is responsible for the organization and implementation of the entire project and provides the infrastructure and personnel.

The jury consists of trained tasters and is chaired by an expert from the Changins School of Engineering. Producers who have submitted samples themselves are excluded from the jury. The tasters will work out a group result for each product submitted to the competition according to an internationally recognized scheme. The submitted products will be evaluated according to a 100-point system. The entrants will receive a reasoned grade for each product submitted.

The competition is held under the patronage of "Best of Swissness".
