The Rugenbräu and me

Who are you and what is your job at Rugenbräu?

After an apprenticeship as a chemist, I studied at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, graduating with a degree in food technology. I gained my first experience in quality assurance and quality management in the chocolate industry, later also in management positions. After the "chocolate job", I switched to the beer and spirits sector, where I am responsible for QA + QM. For some time now, I have also been responsible for research and development.
I live with my husband and two daughters in the beautiful Diemtigtal valley.

What makes your work at Rugenbräu special?

There is always something unexpected, so it never gets boring. It's also fun to work in an interdisciplinary way.

How would you describe Rugenbräu in three words?

Traditional, familiar, innovative

What are you particularly proud of in your job?

In recent years, I have been able to optimize a great deal in the area of QA/QM, which is reflected in well-functioning processes in the area of quality and food safety. I am also proud that I have been able to build up a good food safety culture, so that we can work together as a team in a solution- and goal-oriented manner in the event of any problems.

My role & responsibility

What skills are essential for your job?

Process understanding, technical and scientific understanding, product knowledge, analytical skills, interdisciplinary work, but also social skills such as the ability to work in a team, empathy and communication skills: Ability to work in a team, empathy and communication skills.

What do many people underestimate about your work?

How important and complex food safety is and how many risks can occur in food and beverage production. No safe food without controlled processes!

What have you learned here that you couldn't before?

I was able to acquire a great deal of specialist knowledge about beer and spirits. My sensory skills were greatly developed in both areas.

Brewery & enjoyment issues

Your personal favorite beer - and when do you prefer to drink it?

Wheat beer with or without alcohol - in a fun round.

Lager, Zwickel or wheat - short explanation...

Wheat - I really like the fruity and phenolic notes that are also present in non-alcoholic wheat beer.

Tap, bottle or can? - why?

Depending on the location, I generally prefer a bottle that is not too big or a glass that is too big, as I am not such a fast beer drinker and like to keep it cold until the end - but cans are very practical when out and about in the mountains or at the lake and are therefore preferred there.

Who would you like to drink a Rugenbräu with? And why?

With my father, who died a long time ago - there would be so much to tell.

Now it's getting personal

Early riser or night owl?

More of a night owl as long as I don't have to get up too early in the morning.

Mountains or lake?

Preferably a lake in the mountains 😉

Order or creative chaos?

Order, but not always successful.

What do you do to switch off?

Spending time with my family or friends - at the lake, in the mountains or on the football pitch watching my girls play.

Three things that make you happy.

Family - health - good food and drink

Favorite place in the Bernese Oberland?

Meienfallseeli in the Diemtigtal valley

Your little everyday ritual?

The first thing I do when I get up is have a coffee...

Attitude, values & Rugenbräu DNA

What does Rugenbräu mean to you personally?

Tradition, home, passion for moments of pleasure

What makes Rugenbräu different from others?

I don't know what others do, but we do it well 😊

Why do you like working here?

Open and collegial interaction, solution-oriented, short decision-making processes, open to optimization and quite simply because we produce good products.

What do you wish for the future of Rugenbräu?

Continue to produce high-quality and innovative products in the future.
